The amount of payments for wartime injuries depends on several factors, including the severity of the injury, the current amount of military benefits and possible subsequent disability. What is the amount of payments given to the wounded in Ukraine?

According to the data of the Ministry of Defense, a soldier who was injured (injured, contused or maimed) during hostilities can count on the following types of monetary payments:

• Monthly cash allowance equal to the salary of the last position held before the injury.
• One-time cash benefit for health damage that resulted in loss of working capacity or a group of disabilities.
• Material assistance for solving social and household issues is paid in the amount of a monthly allowance once a year.

In practice, receiving these payments can be difficult due to bureaucratic obstacles and the distance between the military unit and the place of treatment of the soldier. As a result, a hospitalized military member may not receive adequate benefits and may require legal assistance to resolve such issues.

If a fighter goes to the hospital with an illness, the additional reward for combat merits (for example, 100 thousand hryvnias) is not paid. If, after treatment, the military medical commission grants rehabilitation leave (in case of serious injury), then this period is also paid as combat. There is no separate payment for injuries, but a certificate of injury must be issued within five days of the injury.

What should a serviceman do when injured

Since it is difficult for a wounded soldier in the hospital to influence the bureaucratic processes taking place in the unit, he is recommended to contact his comrades or the commander with a request to provide a certificate of injury as soon as possible. Although formally the part must send this document to the hospital independently, in practice difficulties may arise.

In addition, you should ask to keep your body armor, helmet and other belongings, because the longer you are away, the more likely your belongings will be lost. It is important to keep all medical documents, starting with "form 100" (a document drawn up when evacuating a wounded person). If there are delays or difficulties with payments, these documents can become the basis for submitting a report on underpayment of funds. Upon confirmation of your correctness, the part will make an additional payment.

Monthly cash allowance and additional remuneration

If a serviceman is injured and is undergoing treatment or on leave for treatment after a serious injury, he has the right to receive an additional remuneration in the amount of UAH 100,000 per month, as well as his usual salary.

In order to receive this additional reward, it is necessary to obtain a certificate about the circumstances of the injury and send a copy of it to the unit. The payment will be made monthly during treatment at the hospital or while on leave based on the commander's order.

If the additional reward has not been paid, it is necessary to submit a report in the name of the commander with a request to include the additional reward in the amount of UAH 100,000 in the order. A copy of the injury certificate should be attached to the report.
