Returning to the front after injury is an important stage that requires a comprehensive approach, including medical, psychological and social support. The conclusion of the MMC is a key factor in this process, and servicemen must be confident of their readiness for service.

Important aspects of returning to the front after being wounded:

  • Treatment: After receiving an injury, a service member undergoes treatment, which can last from several weeks to several months, depending on the severity of the injury.

  • Military Medical Commission (MMC): After the completion of treatment, the MMC is convened to assess the state of health of the serviceman. The ММС issues a conclusion in which it determines the serviceman's suitability for service.

  • Assessment of fitness: The conclusion may contain different options: fit for service - if the serviceman can return to duty, unfit - if the injury is so serious that the serviceman cannot continue his service, he is discharged, etc.

  • Return to the front: If the MMC recognizes that a serviceman can continue his service, he can be returned to the front.

The whole process is important for ensuring proper conditions of service and protecting the rights of servicemen. The conclusion of the MMC determines the further fate of the serviceman and his ability to continue performing his duties.

Passage of ММС in the process of return

A serviceman's return to duty after treatment depends on the conclusion of the Military Medical Commission (MMC). Here is a detailed description of the process for the case when the MMC recognizes a serviceman as "fit for military service":

  1. Conclusion of the MMC on fitness: This conclusion means that the serviceman is ready to perform duties in both non-combat and combat conditions. He can be appointed to most positions in the military.
Referral to a military unit: If a serviceman was in service before being injured, he is referred back to his unit. In the event that his unit needs rotation or changes, he can be sent to reserve units at the request of commanders.

  2. Notification of the commander: If the treatment took place in a military hospital, the head of the medical institution must notify the commander of the military unit about the discharge of the serviceman 5 days before the discharge. If the treatment took place in a civilian institution, the serviceman is required to report to the territorial recruitment and social support center for registration of return to service.

  3. Documentation: Medical documents confirming recovery are sent electronically to the hospital from the medical institution or  territorial recruitment and social support center.

The process of returning to service after treatment is clearly regulated and requires a number of procedures to ensure the serviceman's readiness to perform his duties. Correctly following these procedures is important to ensure the safety of both the soldier himself and his fellow service members.

Dismissal from the Armed Forces due to health

When performing duties, a serviceman must be confident in his abilities, and proper physical condition is critically important for the successful performance of tasks. However, with new changes in the legislation, the list of diseases for which servicemen can be discharged has been significantly narrowed. This does not mean that health problems have disappeared. The procedure for dismissal from military service due to health conditions consists of several stages. Here is a step-by-step description:

  • Reporting: Write a medical discharge report to your immediate commander. In the report, note the existing health problems, and also indicate if these problems arose due to the exacerbation of chronic diseases or injuries. If possible, attach medical documents that confirm your health problems (hospital discharge, medical record, etc.).

  • Receiving a referral to the MMC: After submitting the report, receive a referral to undergo the MMC, which is signed by your commander and chief of staff. Along with the referral, submit a medical record, military ID, 3 x 4 cm photo card (without headgear), as well as service and medical characteristics, if possible. If you undergo MMC due to wounds or injuries, submit the original certificate on the circumstances of the injury.

  • Passing MMC: Pass a medical examination at MMC. Get a conclusion on unfitness for military service. If you are unable to perform your duties at the time of registration, the MMC may issue a decision on dismissal from service for a period of up to 30 days.

  • Preparation of documents: MMC sends a conclusion to your military unit. The personnel service prepares the necessary documents and sends them to the commander of the brigade or regiment to make a decision on dismissal.

  • Acceptance of the order: The commander of your military unit announces the order of dismissal. You surrender your position and you are excluded from the personnel lists of the military unit.

  • Visit to the  territorial recruitment and social support: Within 5 days after discharge, it is necessary to arrive at the territorial recruitment and social support center for military registration at the place of residence.

Question

What is the reason for dismissal from service due to health?

Answer

Heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension and other serious life-threatening problems. Chronic pain, arthritis, osteochondrosis, injuries or mutilations that prevent physical activity. Diseases that have a progressive nature and can worsen the state of health, for example, diabetes, bronchial asthma, and others. Injuries received during service that lead to significant limitations in working capacity.

Question

Is it possible to receive financial assistance for recovery?

Answer

Cash benefit for recovery is a payment given to military personnel in the amount of their monthly cash allowance according to the position held. Financial assistance is provided on the condition that the serviceman goes on annual basic leave of full duration or on the second part of annual basic leave. In order to receive financial assistance, it is necessary to submit a report to the name of the immediate commander. In the report, it is necessary to indicate the reason for the appeal and indicate the right to receive assistance.

The medical discharge process is clearly structured, allowing military personnel to receive the necessary medical and legal support during the transition to civilian life. Complying with all stages and providing the necessary documents contributes to the smooth completion of the service.
