Alimony, which is part of family law, is designed to provide financial support for one of the spouses after divorce or dissolution of marriage. However, circumstances may change over time, and the amount of alimony that was once deemed adequate may no longer correspond to the current situation. In such cases, there are grounds for increasing the amount of alimony that can be used in Ukraine:
Change in income: One of the main reasons for increasing the amount of alimony is a change in the financial status of one of the former spouses. For example, if the person paying alimony receives significantly higher income due to a new job or salary increase, this may serve as grounds for increasing the amount of alimony.
Increased living expenses: Another reason for increasing the amount of alimony may be an increase in living expenses, particularly in connection with changes in life circumstances or rising costs of living. For example, if the cost of food, housing, or medical services increases, this may require an increase in the amount of alimony.
Change in family status: A change in family status may also be a reason for increasing the amount of alimony. For example, if the person receiving alimony has a new child or has lost a source of additional income (for example, due to a breakup with a new partner), this may affect their financial situation and require an increase in alimony.
In case of filing a relevant lawsuit and confirmation of the change in circumstances, the court may decide to increase the amount of alimony. Application for increasing the amount of alimony, the lawsuit for increasing alimony, for this purpose, should start with the following steps:

The court will consider factors such as the financial needs and abilities of both parties before making a decision.
