The pension system in Ukraine provides social protection for citizens in certain life situations, such as reaching retirement age, disability, loss of the breadwinner and other circumstances. Let's have a look at the main types of pensions and their features.
Old-age pension
Ukrainian legislation provides citizens with the right to receive an old-age pension in accordance with the established procedure. This age is usually 60 years for men and 58 years for women. Citizens who have reached the relevant retirement age and have sufficient pensionable service are entitled to receive an old-age pension.
In order to receive an old-age pension, you must have a sufficient pensionable service, i.e. a period of actual work with corresponding contributions to the Pension Fund. This period is typically 25 years for men and 20 years for women. Citizens with insufficient pensionable service can receive an old-age pension, but in their case the amount of the pension may be reduced.
The amount of the old-age pension is determined on the basis of pensionable service and contributions paid during this period. In addition, pensions are periodically indexed to adjust their amount in line with inflation and to ensure social equity.
Disability pension
In order to receive a disability pension, you must have a medical disability group and have completed the statutory pensionable service. The amount of the pension depends on the degree of disability and the pensionable service accumulated over the course of a lifetime.
In addition to pension payments, disabled people are also entitled to various social benefits and assistance. These may include free public transport, discounts on healthcare services and medicines, as well as other forms of support from the state and NGOs.
Survivor's pension
This pension is provided to people who have lost a breadwinner - a person who was their main source of income, such as a husband, wife, or parents. The amount of the survivor's pension is determined in accordance with the law and depends on the number and complexity of the circumstances.
In order to receive a survivor's pension, you must have the status of a family member of the deceased and submit relevant documents confirming the fact of the death of the breadwinner and the status of a family member. The amount of the pension depends on various factors, including the deceased's income and family composition.
The survivor's pension is only one of the special forms of social support that the state can provide. In addition to the pension, the family may be entitled to other social benefits, privileges, and assistance from government and charitable organisations.
Other types of pensions
In addition to the above-mentioned types of pensions, there are other types of pensions, such as social pension and war survivor's pension. These types of pensions are granted based on special criteria and circumstances, in accordance with the law.
A lawyer and advocate will also help you deal with the following issues: payment at the birth of a third child, benefits for the disabled, subsidy, subsidy assignment, how to issue a subsidy and other.
The pension system in Ukraine provides various types of pensions for different categories of citizens, aiming to provide social protection and support to the population in different life situations. The amount and conditions of each type of pension are determined in accordance with the law and take into account the specifics of each situation.
