Early retirement: who has the right to it
Some Ukrainians are entitled to early retirement if their health or social status meets certain requirements. If a citizen has the opportunity to retire earlier, he must submit an application and relevant documents to the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Who can retire early?
According to the Law of Ukraine of July 9, 2003 No. 1058-IV "On Mandatory State Pension Insurance", Ukrainians can receive a pension at the age of 60 if they have at least 31 years of work experience. If the length of service is shorter, the retirement age is increased to 63 or 65 years.
However, some groups of Ukrainians can retire earlier under special conditions specified in the aforementioned law.
These groups include:
· People with visual disabilities of the I group. However, they are allowed to retire no earlier than 10 years before reaching retirement age for men and 15 years for women.
· Women who gave birth to 5 or more children and raised them up to the age of eight, as well as mothers of children with disabilities.
· Military servicemen, senior and rank-and-file members of law enforcement agencies who took part in hostilities or became disabled as a result of injury.
· Wives or husbands of military personnel, senior and rank-and-file members of law enforcement agencies who died, provided that they have not remarried.
· Liquidators of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster or persons who performed international duty.· Persons of pre-retirement age, with whom the employment contract was terminated due to their health condition.
· Persons who worked in the regions of the Far North or similar areas.
· People suffering from rare diseases, including pituitary dwarfism (midgets), disproportionate dwarfism and others.

How to make an application
The list of documents required for submitting an application for early retirement at the PFU:
· Application for early retirement.
· Identity card (original and its copy).
· Documents confirming work experience (work book) or other documents confirming general and preferential work experience.
· Certificate of assignment of an individual tax number (RNOKPP code).
· Certificate of income during the insurance period of work. This certificate must contain information for the last 60 calendar months before July 1, 2000 and for the entire period of insurance experience starting from July 1, 2000.
The PFU may also require the following documents:
· Certificate of pension allowances.
· Copy of certificates confirming the right to benefits.
· Marriage certificate.
· A certificate from the tax office regarding the absence of income (if the person does not work).
· Child's birth certificate.
Documents can be submitted to the Pension Fund in person, by mail or through the website.
