Let's consider the main ways of obtaining it.
1. Residence permit for refugees from Ukraine
In connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation, the Finnish authorities introduced a simplified procedure for obtaining a residence permit for Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes. For this, within 90 days after entry, you need to contact the Migration Service and provide documents certifying your identity, connection with Ukraine, and fingerprints. A residence permit is issued for up to 4 years.
2. Contract work
One of the ways to get a residence permit is employment in a Finnish company. For this, it is necessary to have a confirmed contract for at least 1 year, a certificate of education/qualification, a health insurance policy, a guarantee of receiving an acceptable income for living. Preference is given to qualified specialists.
3. Opening a business
Ukrainian entrepreneurs can register a company or become self-employed in Finland and obtain a residence permit for conducting business. It is necessary to prepare a business plan, confirm the availability of investment capital, financial support, and pay state fees.
4. Training
For foreign students who have received a place in Finnish accredited educational institutions, a separate student residence permit is provided. For its registration, you need to have a certificate of enrollment, confirm study funding and success rates.
5. Real estate ownership
Finland recognizes the right to receive GNP for foreigners who own residential real estate worth 300,000 euros or more in the country (plus health insurance and housing financing).
6. Financial independence
Persons who have a source of annual income, pensions or demonstrate the availability of funds in a bank account of 34,000 euros or more can obtain a residence permit in Finland. It is also necessary to have a health insurance policy.
In general, the procedure for obtaining a residence permit involves the collection of the necessary package of documents, confirmation of income/financial status, health insurance, and payment of fees. Applicants may be interviewed by the Finnish immigration authorities.
