Registration of the status of the UBD for ATO veterans: A step towards proper support and protection of rights

The armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, known as the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), left a deep mark on the lives of thousands of Ukrainian citizens. ATO veterans who have directly participated in hostilities face numerous challenges, including physical and psychological trauma, social adjustment, and ensuring an adequate standard of living. In order to solve these problems, Ukrainian legislation provides for the possibility of obtaining the status of a participant in hostilities (UBD) for veterans of the anti-terrorist operation.

Get UBD

The status of a combatant is an important step for ATO veterans, as it provides them with a number of benefits and guarantees aimed at improving the quality of life and social protection. Obtaining a UBD opens the door to a variety of government support programs, health care, housing benefits, education and employment.

UBD for ATO participants

ATO veterans who directly participated in hostilities in the east of Ukraine have the right to receive the status of UBD in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection". This status provides them with a number of benefits and guarantees, including: benefits for the payment of housing and communal services, free travel in city transport, emergency housing, priority employment, and others.

Obtain the status of UBD for ATO veterans

To obtain UBD status, ATO veterans must submit an application and a corresponding package of documents to the social protection authorities at their place of residence. Among the main documents required are: a certificate of a participant in hostilities, an extract from an order on participation in hostilities, a certificate of direct participation in hostilities, etc.

Registration of UBD status for ATO veterans

The process of registration of the UBD status for ATO veterans may differ depending on the region and the body responsible for its assignment. However, in general, it includes the following steps:

1. Collection of necessary documents confirming participation in hostilities in eastern Ukraine.
2. Submission of an application and a package of documents to the relevant body of social protection of the population.
3. Review of application and documents by authorized bodies.
4. Adoption of a decision on assigning the status of UBD.
5. Obtaining the appropriate certificate.

Importance of obtaining UBD

Obtaining the status of UBD is an important step for ATO veterans, as it provides them with a number of benefits and guarantees that contribute to improving the quality of life and social adaptation after returning from the war. This status is a recognition of their contribution to the protection of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and demonstrates the state's concern for those who risked their lives for the sake of peace and security.

In addition, obtaining UBD for ATO veterans is an important element of the overall social protection system, which aims to support veterans and their families, ensure their reintegration into civilian life and provide access to necessary services and resources.

Conclusion

Issuance of combatant status for ATO veterans is a critically important process to ensure proper support and protection of the rights of those who defended Ukraine on the front lines. This status opens the door to a number of benefits and guarantees, including health care, housing benefits, education and employment. Receiving the UBD is not only a recognition of the contribution of veterans, but also a step towards their successful reintegration into peaceful life and ensuring a decent standard of living.
