MSEK in Ukraine is conducted with the aim of determining medical and social indicators that affect the status of a person, such as:

Provision of social services: Determining a person's needs for social services and support.
Designation of assistance and compensation: Determining a person's right to receive assistance, compensation or benefits in connection with medical and social problems.

Referral to MSEC of a military serviceman may have its own characteristics, since the health and functional capacity of servicemen is directly related to their performance of military duties. Here are some of the reasons for which a serviceman can be sent to the MSEK:
1.Deterioration of health: If a service member has suffered an injury or illness that results in a deterioration of his physical or mental health and this may affect his ability to perform military duties.
2. Chronic diseases: If a serviceman suffers from chronic diseases that limit his ability to serve or work in the army.
