Detailed description of the process
1. Preparation of documents
Original document: Check that the document is in good condition and contains the necessary signatures and seals.

2. Notarization
Contact a notary: Have copies of documents or signatures on the original document certified by a notary. This applies to documents issued by state authorities, educational institutions, civil status and other official institutions.
3. Legalization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
Contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: The Department of the Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine carries out legalization of documents.
Submission of documents:
- documents can be submitted personally or through an authorized representative;
- submit the original document, a notarized copy (if necessary) and an application for legalization;
- pay the state fee for the legalization of documents in accordance with current legislation;
- legalization usually takes several working days, but this period may vary.
4. Legalization at the embassy or consulate of a foreign country
Contact the embassy or consulate: After legalization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the document must be submitted to the consular office of the country where it will be used.
Submission of documents:
- a legalized document and its copies, a translation of the document (if required), and other necessary documents in accordance with the requirements of the embassy/consulate;
- pay the consular fee for legalization of documents;
- after completing the legalization procedure at the consulate, you will receive legalized documents that can be used abroad.
Important tips
Before starting the legalization process, it is recommended to consult the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine or the embassy of the country where the documents will be submitted to find out about specific requirements.
If the document needs to be submitted in a foreign country, it may be necessary to have it translated into the appropriate language and have this translation certified.
Authorized representative: If you cannot personally handle the legalization, you can authorize a representative by proxy.
