USAID SUPPORTS THE IMPLEMENTATION OF GLOBAL LAW TEACHING STANDARDS IN UNIVERSITIES OF UKRAINE
On the way to improving legal education in Ukraine, there are quite a few challenges and tasks that require a comprehensive approach and innovative solutions. As of 2024, the reform of this industry is already in an active phase, attracting the attention of specialists and the public. The co-chair of the working group on reforming legal education, Yuliya Hryshina, emphasized that the new draft law will meet the requirements of the times and the needs of society, contributing to a deep improvement of the concept of reform.
One of the key aspects of the reform is the change in funding, which involves the minimization of state orders and the provision of educational grants to students. This opens up opportunities for choosing a university and specialty, stimulating competition and improving the quality of education. In particular, it is important to integrate practitioners into the teaching process, which will help students acquire not only theoretical, but also practical skills necessary for a successful career in the field of law.
In addition, emphasis is placed on the modernization of the content of educational programs, in particular, taking into account modern market requirements and the development of legal science. This involves the active use of interactive teaching methods, the development of critical thinking and analytical skills of students, as well as the formation of ethical values and the fight against corruption.
The innovative educational program, developed with the support of USAID, became an important step in the direction of training high-quality specialists in the field of law.It combines the best practices and approaches to teaching, emphasizing the development of practical skills and compliance with international standards.
The participation of representatives of higher legal education institutions and the public in the reform process plays an important role in ensuring the success of this process. Only through joint efforts can significant progress be made in improving the quality and accessibility of legal education in Ukraine.
