Adoption of an Important Land Law
On May 22, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Bill No. 11150, aimed at protecting the interests of land plot owners and regulating administrative procedures in land relations. This law is a step towards improving legislation and addressing current issues related to land ownership.
Key Provisions of the New Law
The bill provides for several key changes:
- extension of the deadline for registration of unclaimed (undistributed) land plots, implementation of the distribution of land plots between the owners of land shares (shares) and their heirs of lands that remained in collective ownership after the distribution of land plots (from 2025 to 2028);
- restoration of the obligation to upgrade the qualifications of certified land surveyors (currently, the norm is suspended for the duration of martial law);
- continuation until 2026 of the implementation of the pilot project on entering information into the State Land Cadastre by certified land surveyor engineers;
- making it possible to use the funds that have come to the relevant budgets in order to compensate losses of forestry production for the development of working land management projects and the implementation of measures provided for by these projects;
- establishing that the funds from compensation for agricultural losses, which remained in local budgets before the abolition of the institute of agricultural production losses, are spent on land protection;
- restoration of the possibility of carrying out measures to exchange the rights of use of agricultural land plots located in the massif of agricultural land on the basis of a court decision.
