SAAU Order No. 566
SAAU Order No. 566 of 2018 "On Approval of the Rules for the Use of Ukrainian Airspace" is the key document regulating the use of drones. It establishes rules for flight heights, areas where flights are prohibited or restricted, and requirements for registration and permits.
Registration of drones
According to the current legislation, all drones weighing more than 250 grams are subject to registration. Registration is carried out at the SAAU. To do this, you must submit an application and provide information about the drone and its owner. After registration, the drone is assigned a unique identification number that must be affixed to the device.
Registration procedure
Submission of an application: The drone owner submits an application to the SAAU through the official website or in paper form.
Provision of information: The application must contain information about the technical characteristics of the drone, its serial number, and the owner's information.
Obtaining an identification number: After processing the application, the SAAU assigns a unique identification number to the drone, which must be affixed to the vehicle.
Flight restrictions and requirements
Flight altitude
According to SAAU Order No. 566, drones can fly up to 120 meters above ground level without obtaining additional permits. Flights at higher altitudes require special permission from the SAAU.
Areas where flights are prohibited or restricted
Prohibited areas: Drone flights are prohibited in areas designated as no-fly zones, such as within airports, military installations, government facilities, and other critical infrastructure.
Restricted areas: In some areas, such as urban areas, parks, nature reserves, drone flights may be restricted or require special permission.
