Introduction
Modern technologies are rapidly integrated into everyday life, affecting all spheres of social life, including law. One of the innovations that appeared in Ukraine is the possibility of concluding a marriage online through the state portal "Diya". This article examines the online marriage process, legal aspects, benefits and possible challenges associated with the innovation.
Legislative regulation
Marriage in Ukraine is regulated by the Family Code of Ukraine. According to the Code, a marriage is a family union of a man and a woman, which is registered in the state bodies for the registration of acts of civil status (RACS). In 2022, as part of digitalization, the government of Ukraine introduced the possibility of concluding a marriage online through the Diya portal.
In order to implement this possibility, amendments were made to the legislation, which provide for the use of an electronic signature for submitting an application for marriage registration. This allows future spouses to apply remotely, which is especially relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic and martial law.
Online marriage procedure
The process of concluding a marriage online through "Diya" includes several stages:
Application submission: Both partners must have accounts in "Diya" and an electronic signature. They fill the appropriate form and submit it through the portal.
Data verification: The RATS authorities verify the authenticity of the submitted data. If errors or inaccuracies are found, applicants have the opportunity to correct them.
Designation of registration date: After successful data verification, partners receive confirmation and can choose the date of marriage registration.Marriage registration: On the appointed date, the couple must appear at the RATS for official marriage registration. Under certain circumstances, for example, if one of the partners is a military serviceman, the registration can be carried out remotely using video communication.
Advantages of getting married online
Getting married online through "Diya" has a number of advantages:
Convenience: The ability to apply for marriage at any time and from any place.
Saving time: Eliminating the need to personally visit the RAC to submit an application.
Security: Reducing health risks in pandemic and military operations.
Transparency: The application and marriage registration process is becoming more transparent thanks to the use of electronic technologies.

Despite the obvious advantages, getting married online also has a number of challenges and potential problems:
Technical difficulties: Not all citizens have access to the Internet or have the necessary skills to use electronic services.
Legal uncertainty: Some aspects, such as the validity of electronic signatures or the possibility of contesting a marriage concluded online, can cause legal disputes.
Data security: The protection of personal data is a critically important aspect, especially in cases of electronic civil registration.
Development prospects
Given the rapid development of technology and its integration into the legal sphere, we can expect further improvement of the online marriage process.A possible direction of development is to expand the functionality of "Action" to provide a wider range of services related to family law, such as filing applications for divorce or changing the surname.
In addition, improving the personal data protection system and raising the level of digital literacy of the population are also important steps to ensure the effective functioning of innovations.

Getting married online through the "Diya" portal is an important step on the way to the digitalization of society and increasing the ease of access to public services, as evidenced by the verification of documents by a lawyer and the legal analysis of the situation and the analysis of documents. Despite certain challenges, this innovative approach has the potential to significantly simplify and improve the process of marriage registration in Ukraine.
