Why should military servicemen pass the VLK?
The Military Medical Commission (MMC) is an important component of the medical care of servicemen. Its main purpose is to assess the state of health of military personnel and determine their suitability for military service. In this article, we will consider why servicemen undergo the VLK and what are the main functions of this commission.
Main Functions of VLK
1. Assessment of Suitability for Military Service
The VLK conducts medical examinations to determine the fitness of servicemen to perform official duties. This includes:
Initial medical examinations of recruits before acceptance into military service.
Periodic examinations of active servicemen to monitor their health.
Additional examinations if necessary, for example, after injuries or illnesses.
2. Establishing the Degree of Loss of Working Capacity
The VLK determines the degree of incapacity for servicemen who were injured or diseased during the performance of official duties. This is important for further assignment of payments and benefits.
3. Establishment of Disability
The VLK can recommend the establishment of a disability group for servicemen who have persistent health disorders. This opens up the possibility of receiving a disability pension and other social benefits.
4. Making a Decision on Suitability for Further Service
On the basis of medical examinations, the VLK makes a decision on the suitability of servicemen for further service. It may be:
Eligibility without restrictions.
Eligibility with restrictions (eg excluding certain services).Unfitness for service (exemption from military service due to health).
5. Determination of the Need for Treatment and Rehabilitation
The VLK can determine the need for additional treatment or rehabilitation for servicemen. This includes referral to spa treatment, prosthetics, physiotherapy, etc.
Procedure for Passing VLK
1. Preparation for the Review
A serviceman must prepare for a medical examination, in particular:
Collect the necessary medical documents (medical history, results of previous examinations).
Pass preliminary medical examinations, if provided.
2. Medical Examination
VLK conducts a comprehensive medical examination, which includes consultations of various specialists (therapist, surgeon, neurologist, etc.). Examination may include laboratory tests, X-ray, ultrasound and other procedures.
3. Conclusion of the VLK
Based on the medical examination, the VLK makes a conclusion about the state of health of the serviceman. The conclusion states suitability for service, establishing the degree of disability or recommendations for treatment.
4. Issuance of Documents
After receiving the opinion of the VLK, the serviceman receives the relevant documents, which can be the basis for further actions (receipt of payments, treatment, release from military service, etc.).
