Get Moldovan citizenship
Migration to and from Moldova is an important topic that includes both economic and social aspects. The main reasons for migration from Moldova are usually related to economic difficulties, the search for better work opportunities and better living conditions.
Moldovan citizenship is a legal status that gives a person a number of rights and obligations in accordance with the country's legislation. Obtaining Moldovan citizenship is regulated by the Law on Citizenship, and there are several ways to obtain it:
By birth
If one of the parents is a citizen of Moldova, the child automatically receives Moldovan citizenship regardless of the place of birth.
Children who were found on the territory of Moldova without parents and without defined citizenship can also receive Moldovan citizenship.
After adoption, the child can receive Moldovan citizenship in accordance with the country's legislation.
Originally
Persons who were born on the territory of Moldova or have Moldovan origin (for example, one of their parents or grandparents was a citizen of Moldova) can apply for citizenship by descent.
Persons who have family ties with Moldova and lived on the territory of Moldova until June 28, 1940. Their descendants may also be eligible for citizenship under a simplified scheme.
Persons who were expelled from the country after June 20, 1940 and their descendants.
These can be persons who were expelled from Moldova after the specified date and their descendants, who can also apply for citizenship under a simplified scheme.
Naturalization
This is one of the most common ways of obtaining citizenship for foreigners. Basic requirements for naturalization:
- residence in the territory of Moldova for at least 10 years (or 5 years in case of marriage with a citizen of Moldova);
- command of the Moldovan language at a sufficient level;
- stable income and a legitimate source of income;
- absence of criminal records and respect for the laws of the country.
- knowledge of the basics of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova.
Through a residence permit
Those applying for citizenship through the process of restoring family ties can take three years.
However, for other categories, who can also apply for citizenship through a residence permit, the terms can be longer, from 5 to 10 years. This may be due to stricter conditions or depend on the specific circumstances of each case.
Moldova allows its citizens to have dual or other citizenship. According to the Constitution of Moldova and the laws of the country, citizens of Moldova can hold another citizenship along with the citizenship of Moldova without restrictions or restrictions from the state.
This gives Moldovan citizens the opportunity to obtain citizenship of other countries, while retaining their Moldovan citizenship. This approach gives citizens greater freedom of choice and the opportunity to take advantage of dual citizenship.
However, it should be noted that in some cases, countries may have their own laws regarding dual citizenship, so before obtaining another citizenship, citizens of Moldova may wish to familiarize themselves with the laws of that country.
