Customs rules for individuals: restrictions, permits and liability
Introduction
Customs rules for individuals are an important component of the customs control system. Main limitations
Import and export of currency:
- Individuals may import and export foreign currency and the national currency of Ukraine without declaring up to EUR 10,000. Amounts exceeding this limit are subject to mandatory declaration.
Goods for personal use:
- Duty-free importation of goods for personal use is allowed within the established limits. In particular, the value of the goods must not exceed EUR 500 for air transportation and EUR 300 for other modes of transport, and the weight must not exceed 50 kg.
Excisable goods:
- Importation of excisable goods, such as alcohol and tobacco products, is allowed in limited quantities. For example, you can import up to 1 liter of spirits, up to 2 liters of wine, and up to 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars.
Agricultural and food products:
- There are restrictions on the import of certain categories of food and agricultural products to prevent the spread of diseases and pests.

Declaration of goods:
- Individuals are obliged to declare goods exceeding the established limits, as well as those subject to mandatory declaration in accordance with the law. The declaration must be submitted in writing or electronically.
