A contract for design work is a type of contract for work, to which the provisions of the Civil Code of Ukraine apply, unless otherwise provided by law.
The contract for design work is a consensual contract, concluded in writing and comes into force from the moment the parties reach agreement on all material conditions.
According to 887 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, under a contract for design work, the contractor undertakes to develop, on the instructions of the customer, design or other technical documentation and (or) perform search work, and the customer undertakes to accept and pay for them. The provisions of the Civil Code shall apply to the contract for design and prospecting work, unless otherwise provided by law.

The procedure for making payment will depend on the agreement of the parties to the contract, the options for which may be 100% prepayment, payment upon completion of work, staged payment in installments.
In addition, the contract should provide for the conditions under which it is possible to change the timing of the work, in particular, the performance of additional work that was not known at the time of the conclusion of the contract, as well as the actions of the parties in the event of changes to the regulatory framework for design, construction and architecture, etc.
