В Україні існує загальна військова повинність для чоловіків у віці 18-27 років, яка передбачає обов'язок проходження служби у Збройних Силах або альтернативної (цивільної) служби. Отримання військового квитка є одним з етапів цього процесу, проте його відсутність не перешкоджає призову до ЗСУ.
