In connection with the updating of legislation on mobilization in Ukraine, some conscripts may not have a clear understanding of where people with health restrictions can be drafted. The list of diseases that can lead to the recognition of a person as unfit for military service during mobilization is established by the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine No. 402 "On approval of the regulation on military medical examination in the Armed Forces of Ukraine" dated 14 of August 2008, which entered into force in the new edition on May 4, 2024.

If, after passing the military medical commission, a person is recognized as fit for service, but with health restrictions, he can be sent to:

• for military service in support units,
• for military service in territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCC and SP),
• for military service in training units and other military units.

How to act when you are "limited fit" for military service

If a conscript citizen of Ukraine previously received the status of "limited fitness" from the VLK, he will need to undergo a medical examination again at a certain time. It is important to note that the cancellation of the term "limited eligibility" does not lead to an automatic transition to another status (eligible or ineligible). For example, if a person was found to be "limited fit" before May 4, 2024, they will need to undergo VLC again within nine months of that date. After a repeated medical examination, the VLK may make a decision:

• declare a person unfit, which will lead to his exclusion from military registration;
• declare a person suitable, which will allow him to enter military service.

Since the degree of fitness for military service is established by medical specialists of the VLK, they also indicate where a person can perform military duties.
