Ukrainian citizens can apply for a pension independently, even when they are outside the country or in any corner of Ukraine, and this does not require a personal visit to the Pension Fund service center.
Most people do not like to visit government institutions and waste time in queues and bureaucracy. And for those who have reached retirement age abroad, it is even more difficult, because they cannot even physically contact the service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Registration of a pension remotely

The most common type of pension is an old-age pension. It can be received by citizens of Ukraine who have reached the age of sixty, starting from January 1, two thousand and twenty-four. In addition to the age limit, it is also important to have at least thirty-one years of insurance experience. If all conditions are met, you can apply to the bodies of the Pension Fund of Ukraine to apply for a pension.
There are several options for submitting an application:
- In person to any territorial office of the Pension Fund, regardless of your place of residence or registration.
- Through the responsible person of the enterprise or institution where you work, at the time of applying for a pension, if your right to it has already arisen.
- Through a representative acting under a notarized power of attorney.
- Online, through the web portal of electronic services of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
If you choose to submit remotely, follow these four steps:
Step one. To submit documents through the Pension Fund electronic services web portal, prepare and scan the following documents:
- Passport or other document certifying your identity, place of registration and date of birth.
- A document confirming your registration.
- Reference about the registration number of the taxpayer's account card.
- An employment book or other documents confirming your seniority (archival certificates, hiring and dismissal orders, etc.).
- Military ID, if any.
- Documents confirming the change of surname (marriage certificate, divorce, etc.).
- If desired, you can submit a salary certificate for the period of insurance experience until July 1, 2000.
If a woman took care of a child under the age of three, a birth certificate should be provided.

Additionally, it is possible to provide documents confirming the special status of a person for the appointment of a pension - a certificate of a victim of the Chernobyl disaster, a certificate of a participant in hostilities, a certificate of a person with a disability due to war and other similar documents, documents confirming preferential service, for example, work in regions of the Far North or in harmful industries, a certificate of opening a bank account for the payment of a pension, if you want to receive it on a bank card.
Please note that scanned copies of documents must be of high quality and in color.
Step two. In order to submit an application through the web portal of the Pension Fund, you need to enter the portal using an electronic digital signature or through the electronic identification system (Signature action).
Step three. After logging in to your personal account, select the "Application for a pension" section, fill in all fields ankets and attach scanned color copies of the documents. Please note that the application must be signed with an electronic digital signature, even if you are logged in via BankID or Diya signature. Therefore, we advise you to submit an application using an electronic digital signature.
Step four. After checking all the entered data and attached documents, sign the application with an electronic digital signature and send it to the body of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. After that, wait for the decision. You will be notified about it by SMS no later than ten days after submitting the application.
