Ukraine on the path to an innovative future: IP WEEK 2024
As part of the Ukrainian Intellectual Property Week (IP WEEK 2024), an important event was held dedicated to innovation and the role of the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation (IP Office) in creating innovation infrastructure. This became an important stage in the development of the Ukrainian economy and support for innovative projects.
The role of the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation (IP Office)
The events were opened by the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Vitaly Kondratov. He noted the importance of promoting innovative projects and strengthening the innovation ecosystem in the country. Kondratov also proposed combining the “Made in Ukraine” program with the IP&I hub tools in order to strengthen support for Ukrainian businesses.
The event also featured a speech by the Director of the WIPO Technology and Innovation Office (WIPO), Andrew Tchaikovsky, who drew attention to the importance of innovation ecosystems in the development of the country and overcoming global challenges.
Vice-President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Valery Korol emphasized that intellectual property and its protection should become a priority in building a new economy.
Elena Orlyuk, director of the IP office, noted the importance of supporting business in war conditions, offering appropriate tools for the development of the Ukrainian economy. According to her, 40% of EU GDP is produced by industries based on intellectual property.
Main achievements and successful cases of "National IP&Innovations Hub"
During the event, the main achievements and successful cases of the work of the “National IP&Innovations Hub” were presented, and an emphasis was placed on the importance of the TISC network in the development of innovation ecosystems. Anastasia Yarmolyuk, head of the development department of the network of technology and innovation support centers of the IP office, emphasized the importance of the activities of these centers in creating a favorable environment for the development of innovation. Interactive dashboards on the innovation ecosystem of Ukraine
Also at the event, new programs Lab2Market MedTech and Lab2Market Veterano were presented. The team of the National Hub of Intellectual Property and Innovation created interactive dashboards (maps and infographics) on the innovation ecosystem, the intellectual property sector, registered technologies, regional ratings, etc. Information is provided regionally as of March 20, 2024. Maps are posted on the IP office website in the "Services" section.
