Peculiarities of payment of a disability certificate due to pregnancy and childbirth
1. Introduction
The certificate of incapacity for work due to pregnancy and childbirth is an important document guaranteeing financial support for women during pregnancy and childbirth. In this article, we will consider the features of the payment of a disability certificate due to pregnancy and childbirth, the procedure for its registration and calculation of benefits.
2. Legislative regulation
2.1. Basic normative acts
Payment of maternity leave is regulated by the following normative acts:
Law of Ukraine "On mandatory state social insurance".
Code of Labor Laws of Ukraine.
Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On approval of the Procedure for accrual and payment of benefits for temporary disability, pregnancy and childbirth".
2.2. Basic provisions
The legislation stipulates that women who work and pay insurance premiums are entitled to maternity benefits. This allowance is paid for the entire period of maternity leave.
3. Issuance of a certificate of incapacity for work
3.1. Registration procedure
A certificate of incapacity for work due to pregnancy and childbirth is issued by a doctor at the women's consultation. The document is issued from a medical examination and confirmation of pregnancy.
3.2. Duration
Maternity leave is granted for 126 calendar days (70 days before childbirth and 56 days after childbirth). In case of complicated births or the birth of two or more children, the duration of leave is increased to 140 calendar days.
4. The procedure for calculating aid
4.1.Presentation of documents to the employer
After receiving the certificate of incapacity for work, the woman must submit it to the employer together with the application for benefits. The employer verifies the documents and transfers them to the Social Insurance Fund.
4.2. Calculation of aid
The Social Insurance Fund calculates the allowance based on the average salary of a woman for the last 12 months of work. The allowance is paid for the entire period of maternity leave.
4.3. Payment of aid
Maternity allowance is paid in one lump sum for the entire leave period. Payment is made through the employer or directly to the employee's bank account.

5.1. Calculation of the average salary
The average salary for calculating the benefit is determined based on the woman's income for the last 12 months, from which insurance premiums were paid. If a woman has worked for less than 12 months, the calculation is based on the actual period of work.
5.2. Calculation formula
The amount of the benefit is determined by the formula:

where 30.44 is the average monthly number of calendar days.
