A vacation is the time you take to rest, get away from work or study, to recharge, relax, and do things you enjoy. It can be a trip, a vacation in a beautiful place, spending time with family or friends, or even just a time for self-reflection and relaxation at home.
Ukraine has a variety of social holidays, which are provided for by law for different categories of citizens. According to the Law of Ukraine "On Vacations", the following social vacations are granted:
Additional maternity leave: Granted to pregnant women in order to have the opportunity to prepare for childbirth and after the birth of the child.
Child care leave: Granted to parents to care for children under 3 years of age. The duration may vary depending on the legislation and terms of the employment contract.
Adoption Leave: Granted to adoptive parents to allow them to focus on the adjustment process of their new family member.
Additional Leave for Parents of Children with Disabilities: Granted to parents of children with disabilities in order to be able to provide care and support for their child.
Additional leave for parents who have two or more children under the age of 15.
One-time paid maternity leave.
During pregnancy and after giving birth, it is important to be able to rest and recover. Paid maternity leave allows you to do just that, allowing you to focus on your health and well-being. It is also a great opportunity to spend more time with your baby after birth. The duration of maternity leave is 70 calendar days. This period is designed to allow you to rest and prepare for the birth of your baby.
After giving birth, you are granted a leave of 56 calendar days, which begins on the day of your child's birth. However, if you give birth to two or more children, or if there are complications during childbirth, then the duration of leave can be increased to 70 calendar days. This will allow you plenty of time to recover from the birth and care for your baby or babies.
If you wish, and you have no medical contraindications, you can transfer part of the leave provided before the birth to the period after the birth. This means that you can use this part of the leave after the birth of your baby for longer rest and childcare. However, the total duration of leave may not exceed 126 calendar days (140 calendar days in the case of the birth of two or more children or in the case of childbirth complications). This approach gives you more flexibility and the ability to customize your vacation to suit your needs and circumstances.
Child care leave before the child reaches the age of three is an important opportunity for parents to provide care and support to their child in the first years of life.
Adoption leave is a special form of leave given to adoptive parents to allow them to focus on the adjustment process and care for their new family member. The duration of this leave is 56 calendar days, and in case of adoption of two or more children - 70 calendar days. This leave begins from the day the court decision on the adoption of the child takes effect. If the adopters are a couple, then this leave can be used by one of them at their discretion.
Additional paid leave is granted to certain categories of employees who have children or an adult child with a childhood disability of subgroup A I group.
This leave lasts 10 calendar days a year and is granted to persons who are raising two or more children under the age of 15, or a child with a disability, or who have adopted a child. It is also granted to one of the child's parents or to a person with a disability from childhood of subgroup A of I group, who is raising them without a mother, or to a person who took custody of a child or a person with disability from childhood of subgroup A of I group.
This leave helps parents or guardians to ensure that they have enough time to care for and support children with disabilities or in the case of adoption.
One-time paid leave upon the birth of a child is granted only to one of the persons specified in the first part of this article. It may be:
- To a man whose wife has given birth to a child.
The child's father, who is not in a registered marriage with the child's mother, provided that they live together, are connected by common life and have mutual rights and obligations, which is confirmed by the statement of the child's mother and the child's birth certificate, in which relevant information about the child's father is specified.
To one of the following relatives: grandmother or grandfather, or another adult relative of the child, who actually cares for the child whose mother (father) is a single mother (single father), based on the application of the child's single mother (single father).
