Vacations without pay are periods when an employee has the right to be absent from work, but does not receive payment for this time. They can be given in different situations and differ in their purpose.
Leave without pay is an important tool of social support for employees in various life situations.
Here is a list of situations when this leave is mandatory:
A mother or father raising children without a mother or father:
Having two or more children under the age of 15 or a child with a disability can get up to 14 calendar days of leave annually.
To a man whose wife is on maternity leave:
This leave can also last up to 14 calendar days.
To the mother or other persons providing care for a child who needs special care:
The duration of this leave is determined by a medical opinion, but cannot exceed the child's sixteenth birthday.
To a mother or other person providing care for a child under the age of 14 during quarantine:
In this case, the vacation can also last up to 14 calendar days.
War veterans and their family members: This leave is granted to war veterans and family members of deceased (deceased) veterans or Defenders of Ukraine, and may also last up to 14 calendar days annually.

Persons with special services to the Motherland, labor veterans:
They can receive vacation up to 21 calendar days annually.
To persons with special labor merits to the Motherland: Vacation is also granted up to 21 calendar days annually.
Age pensioners and persons with disabilities of the III group: They can get a vacation lasting up to 30 calendar days annually.
Persons with disabilities of groups I and II: A vacation of up to 60 calendar days is granted annually.
Persons who are getting married: They can get leave up to 10 calendar days.
Employees in case of death of relatives by blood or marriage: Leave is granted to participate in funeral rites.
For workers to care for a sick relative: The duration of leave is determined by a medical opinion.
For employees to complete sanatorium-resort treatment: Leave for treatment is granted.
Employees who are admitted to the entrance exams to higher educational institutions: They can get leave to take entrance exams.
To roommates: Leave is granted until the end of the leave at the main place of work.
For employees who did not use vacation at their previous place of work: They can get leave for up to 24 calendar days for the adaptation period.
Employees whose children are enrolled in educational institutions in another area: Leave for accompanying children is provided.
To members of voluntary civil defense formations: May be granted leave to perform tasks in case of emergencies.
Employees who start work after discharge from military service: They can get leave for up to 60 calendar days.
